Brochures
... Hi all,
My wife and I decided that if we made
flyers, we would be just another piece of paper for people to
toss away. So, in order to be a bit different and create
something that would stand out and be more visually appealing,
we designed a slick, informative tri-fold brochure. We get six
panels of information by printing on both the front and back of
each sheet of paper. We left a blank area near the bottom of one
of the panels (inside center) and stapled one of our business
cards there. Once the paper has been folded and the card
attached, we have something that looks as though we put some
real thought and energy into it. The reaction from people we've
shown this to has been very, very positive!
If you have Word
for Windows on your computer, making a tri-fold brochure is not
too hard. And if you do not have a printer that can print on
both sides (we just printed out a bunch of one-sided bruchures
on our HP Laserjet 4P, took them out and stuck them back into
the printer upside down to print the second side), you could
just print out two sheets and take them to a copy shop or
whatever and print as many as you like for a couple cents each.
It takes a while to fold (crisp and neat) them all, and to
staple the cards inside, but we have a bunch made up and I will
be taking them to key places in our area tomorrow. I will be
keeping track of how many brochures are left at what places, and
then I'll check back in a week and see how things went. I'll
restock where needed, and take the brochures away from places
where there doesn't seem to be any genuine interest in our
service. This should give us a very good idea which places are
the best bet for creating and leaving brochures.

Re: Brochures
... Excellant Idea. I thought of that but have to much
invested in my other stuff. Good
Luck.

First customer!
... Hi all!
Just thought I'd jump in here and let you all
know that we placed our brochures around town (ten tri-fold
brochures at each place) at 15 businesses, which included the
usual Vet's, pet stores, etc., and we just got our first
customer this morning! We are very pleased.
Hang in there
folks...it works!

Re: First customer!
... David,
That is wonderful! Yes, I find that patience
is truly a virtue, and persistence and consistency are also
great factors as Diane wrote about above.
Look forward to
soaring to greater heights still !
All the
best.

Walkin' The Dog Event
... Whats up Fellow Scoopers!!!
For those who may be
interested there is an event coming up in selected cities
throughout the United States. It's called "Walkin' The Dog".
It is" A Unique Event To Benefit The Children Of St. Judes
Childrens Research Hospital". This may be a good opportunity to
find out if your local event sponser will let you pass out
flyers and talk to the people. The Mayor of Virginia Beach and
that means the media as well will be at our event and should
create great publicity for me. I would take this time to find
out if you are included. Go to this web site:
http://www.walkinthedog.org Or if you want to email me I'll
let you know if your city is on the list. It looks as if most
start around the middle of September. Good luck all and we'll
talk soon.

Re: Walkin' The Dog Event
... Thanks for the heads-up, Frank! This could be a great
opportunity for some scoopers to create and promote awareness of
their services and build good community relations.
Perhaps some could even donate clean-up services for local
events, even being the "Official Dog Waste Removal Service" of
the event in their communities. :)
I have worked at
similar events and gotten some local tv exposure that way in the
past.
Thanks again!

Re: Walkin' The Dog Event
... Alas, they're not in Salt Lake City. BUT, we do have a
similar event put on by and for the benefit of the Best Friends
Animal Sanctuary--the largest no kill sanctuary in the world.
Maybe people have--or could generate--similar events in
their areas. See what the humane society is doing. Parades might
be another place to donate services--and pass out cards along
the way.

Re: Site Update: www.pooper-scooper.com ... Nice work, Matt. Say, folks. What do you say we start recommending each other to our customers who move out of our service area? We are out nothing, somebody gets a chance to gain a customer and it's always a good idea to help out.
