I want to know more about Pete's post card program. Pete, you mentioned that you would forward, I assume you were talking email? Also interested in the matter of the low cost pet sitting insurance, and whether or not it really would cover scooping. Yuckos Debbie, I'll send you an IM next time I see you online. Happy Holidays scooping bretheren.

This is a very good article concerning pricing. It's worth going through the trouble of cutting and pasting or typing in the site manually. By the way, some of you scoopers stop in at my message board and say hi.

Thoughts on tow behinds
Fri Dec 21 00:25:44 2001

Big HELLO to all,
Just wanted to get your thoughts on using tow behind trailers to hold all of our equipment? I have found that if properly organized and with a little creativity a 4 foot trailer (cost $140.00) can be easy to work out of and a sharp mobile advertising sign.I know most of you have trucks but i think this would allow us to utilize our trucks for more personal use without having to unload it.

I'd only consider going through all the extra hassle of a trailor if I were going to utilize it for profit, such as cutting some grass too.

Hi Bert! Some of the houses I do are on very tight one lane drives that would make it nearly impossible for me to have a trailer. I have to use my 4x4 to get out of a few of the driveways as well. I personally would love to have a trailer..for the exact purpose you state...But not possible here

Not a chance for us. Half our clients are back / alley entry and hard enough to get out of as it is - not to mention all the u-turns in front of homes.

I'm with you again MS. In fact, I used to sell Hummers (along with Jaguars, Lotus, Rolls Royce, and Bentleys. All the other salespeople were too "stuffy" to sell the Hummers so I got the pleasure of scaring a lot of rich folk half to death in some of the most insane test drives you could ever go on!

4 X 6 maximum, although the post office lets me slide on my 4.25 X 5.5 cards. I use that size because that's 4 to a 8.5 X 11 page.

Hey PoopKing--love that name! Dimensions for postcards are 5.5" by 4.25". 21 pennies for postage unless you get a bulk mailers deal--you have to pay some type of fee to do that. I am a mailcarrier--18 years so far. Might totally quit if my scooper business takes off. Shari

Got Rocks!
Fri Dec 21 20:29:42 2001

Geez, two of my four new clients this week have their dogs in runs and have 1.5" river rocks in there. I end up taking more rock than poop and leave a fair amount behind.

Apart from removing the big rocks, is there a simple way to clean big rocks? (No fire hose available).

Thanks - I'm between a rock and mushy pile.

While pea stones (the very little rocks)are the easiest surface to clean, big rocks can be one of the most difficult. If there is an easy way to deal with them, I'd like to know what it is.

I ahve a client that has her whole back yard like this. I haad to buy surgical gloves and do it by hand. You actually get it done quite fast that way, and IF the dogs are fed quality food, it all comes up pretty easily.

SURGICAL GLOVES!!! my dear,i have a new respect for you,i just do the best i can with my trusty shovel and keep moving i can usually get about 95% of it like that.or if they are fed well i can get it all.the little bit that is left will wash out in the next rain or if it's runny then i just take some extra rocks.no complaints so far from the three i have with rocks.the problem i have is the three little dogs with the pea gravel run and all those damn acorns.who can tell the difference

I feel for you with the acorns. But the river rock house has 6 small dogs, AND she is a doggie daycare/chaperone service! With my rake, it takes me about 35 minutes to get about 90% with little pieces left all over... with surgical gloves 100% clean! (I have never gotten a whole in a glove...knock on wood)

I have never used a shovel, I am a rake gal. Red swears by the shovel, but here in rainy Seattle, I sometimes find myself~"combing"~ the poo out of grass. As far as Vegas goes, I am not posting info on my site...that site is for potential clients...what info would you like? We will be in Vegas January 18-21. You pick whatever hotel you would like to stay at, let me know you are going and I will get back to you with a meeting place. I am staying at the Stratospere. Others are staying at Circus~Circus, La Quinta, El Centro...etc.... stay where it is convenient for you and we will meet somewhere on the strip (or in a room) Just let me know if you are going, so I can get you details.

Yep, neither myself nor anyone that has ever worked with me can figure out the fascination that so many scoopers have with rakes. After reading about them so much on this board, I now give every new employee one - to this day not one of the rakes has ever touch a turd! Even the 1st day when I give it to them I always am asked "what's that for?!". To me it's like using a hair dryer, a trombone, or a lamp to scoop poop - it's like another language that is incomprehensible! ...But I'm glad ya'll like it. :)

PS: Man, I wish I could be in Vegas with ya'll!

the rake i can't figure out but you could melt it away with a hair dryer right? OR maybe put a pin on the slide part of the trombone or suck it up as you play.the lamp is real easy, take the shade off, turn it over and .....FOUR!!! right over the fence.See simple ,but you'll never see me with a rake
